Re-Issue : Surat Terbuka Buat President Barack Obama.

Here we go again.U.S. and allied warplanes carried out further strikes against Muammar Qaddafi's ground forces and hit an air base deep inside Libya and there was no protection to civilians and populated areas under the attack. What is going on with this world ? United States ? Nato ? Allied Forces? I had commented on the above issue many times before in my previous blog as well as in my facebook. With your indulgence, I would like to re-post my previous comments on the subject which appeared in the August 6, 2010 posting of my Samurai Blues blog (my old blog) . As a Malaysian, I am totally puzzled why Americans never learn from their past mistakes, unless Americans cannot admit their mistakes. What was that war all about anyway? To this day I still have not heard a satisfactory answer.

It's Durian Life !

The legendary king of the fruits - Durian ! Despite its reputation as the "King of Fruits" in Malaysia and Thailand - this fruit has remained virtually unknown in Western society, thanks to its odor and thorny spikes. Durian in its raw fruit form is very bad smelling and in fact, it is banned in most of the hotels in Southeast Asia. For me, durian is addictive and it's like any other drug. The first time is a trial and then you can't get enough !

A kilo (kg) of RM10.00 (USD 3.30 / 250 Japanese Yen) at Langkawi night market.

A friend told me that in Hong Kong it's illegal to carry an opened durian in a taxi ?

Funky smelling fruit ! Put me in the box with durians and i will stay there forever.

To be honest,  I know durian it's not that bad, a lot of people just a mere over-reaction.

The Fight Of The Mythical Birds ( Jentayu & Garuda).

Another epic of the fight.

This is the tour guide that I met while i was there at the park !

Fantastic park with a quiet surrounding.

Langkawi Mullet - Another Special Dish !

There are more than 10 recognized species of mullet being caught all over the world. You can either salted, dried, and compressed to make a specialty food such as Japanese Karasumi and  Sashimi or Italian Botargo. Mullet or Bora in Japanese will reach length of over 80 cm although the average length will more around 60 cm.

Don't you just love it ?

I caught this Mullet in Fukui (Wakasa bay), Japan with my father- in- law. Some prefecture in Japan called this fish as Isegoi, Itanebora, Mabora or Haku.

Japanese special technic.

Look at the apollo rig with the small basket attached !

Langkawi mullet or "Loban" !

Versatile fish but a bit small in size.

Langkawi Home Cooking -

Mee goreng or fried noodles is darn delicious! I eat it at least twice a week during my office lunch hour or  cook for myself at home. But I really miss Japanese fried noodles cooked by my sister -in- law, Sachiko when I was in Japan. Her fried noodles is so simple but terrific !

By the way,  It’s been a busy week at the Resort and I haven’t had much time to cook for Naomi. However, today I prepare something not so complicated yet different from Sachiko's version of mee goring.............. Malaysian style mee goreng !

Mouthwatering...

I'm open to any type as long as it's been tested and yummy!

The Haunted Lighthouse - Are They Real ?

What Could Lurk In This Lighthouse ?
This photo was taken on April 5th , 2011 in Burau Bay, Langkawi Malaysia using a Nikon camera with 18-55mm plus FLW magenta filter.

The tower of the lighthouse is said to be haunted and a place where a spirit of the past may walk but no one really knows who the ghost might be. Many believe that it could be the spirit of the fisherman who died along the coast. Now some anglers report hearing the laughter of women in the lighthouse tower, and some people have spoken of seeing ghostly apparition near the top section of the lighthouse. There are certainly many otherworldly mysteries at these lighthouse.

Did these people mistaken about a non-haunted lighthouse for a haunted one ? At least now you got a reasons and special haunting path that can get you there and bring back some gruesome tales to tell.

The lighthouse is just steps away from the sandy beaches along this stretch of Burau Bay.

The Thing About Langkawi Legends Is... Sometimes, They're True.

Mat Chinchang and Mat Raya once protected the Langkawi islands as giant guardians.Legends says that Mat Chinchang son and Mat Raya daughter fell in love with each other. On the fateful day of their wedding , Mat Raya terribly insulted as bridgeroom had a roving eye and his anger erupted into a heated arguement with Mat Chinchang. The exchange of fiery words broke into an exchange of blows leading to a big fight. The fight went to endlessly as both giants completely lost their senses prompting Mat Sawar to attempt to separate them, but it only became more heated.

Suddenly, the heavens flashed lighting and thunder strucked shaking the ground abruptly stopping everyone in their tracks. In the silence that followed, the villagers were horrified to see the two giants Mat Raya and Mat Chinchang transformed into a two mountain  whileMat sawar turned into a hill with twin peaks.

Isle Of The Legend

Langkawi Island - you will find almost every urban legend with many variants. Here, people liked to talk about everything, from the mysterious white alligators lurking in the Lake of Pregnant Maiden, to the legend of giants roaming the mountains and the Malay folklore of the screaming banshee that sent a shiver up your spine !

These mountains were believed to be a giants long time ago.

Infamous witch known as the "Gedembai"  turned the two patriachs, Mat Chinchang and Mat Raya, into two of the island's major mountains, *Gunung Raya and *Gunung Matchincang to punish them for the mayhem during gathering and to this day they still remain locked in stone watching over the island.

The Fiery Phoenix

Tall tales that help us make sense of things too great or too terrifying to believe.

Seven Well Waterfall

Derived from the series of seven natural pools forming the waterfall's. Legend has it that fairies used to come down to the waterfall to bathe, though only the most lucky would ever be able to glimpse their beauty.
